Accessibility

Effective September 4, 2026

We want ShelfCount to be usable by everyone who runs a kitchen, including people who count inventory with a screen reader, a keyboard, voice control, or a magnified screen.

Our target

We are working to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA (opens in a new window). That is the standard we hold ourselves to and the one we measure against when we audit the app.

What we’ve done

  • Keyboard operability. Every control you can click, you can reach and use with a keyboard alone, and a “Skip to content” link at the top of each page jumps past the navigation.
  • Visible focus. Whatever the keyboard is on draws a clear outline, including in Windows High Contrast mode.
  • Contrast-checked colour. Text, icon and border colours come from a single set of design tokens that we check against the 4.5:1 (text) and 3:1 (borders and controls) minimums, in both light and dark mode.
  • Screen-reader structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks, table headers and form labels, and status messages are announced rather than only shown.
  • Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and transitions are switched off.
  • No zoom blocking. You can pinch-zoom and reflow the page to 400% without losing content.

Known limitations

These are the places we know are not there yet. We would rather name them than imply the whole product is perfect.

  • Charts. Some reports draw a chart. Every one of them has the same numbers available as a data table, but the chart drawing itself is not described in detail to a screen reader.
  • Drag-and-drop. A few screens let you reorder things by dragging. There is always a button alternative that does the same thing, but the dragging itself is mouse- and touch-only.
  • Third-party pages. Some steps hand you off to another company — Stripe for billing, and your point-of-sale provider for connecting an account. Those pages are outside our control, though we will help you get through them.

Report a problem

If something on ShelfCount blocks you, tell us and we will fix it. Email hello@insidermanagement.net with the page you were on and what happened. If it helps, say what assistive technology you were using — but you don’t have to.

We respond within 5 business days. If the fix will take longer than that, we’ll tell you what we’re doing and give you a way to get the task done in the meantime.

You can also browse the help center for how a particular screen is meant to work.
